Year: 1957
Initial issues: Melted case, hums, dial string broken
Repairs: Replaced Electrolytic and all Paper/Wax Capacitors, replaced bad/weak tubes, Sanded and polished cabinet, IF Can rebuild due to SMD, restring dial string, full alignment
IF Can after rebuild. The thin sheets on the right are the mica film capacitors where the silver migrates toward the center and creates a short between the primary and secondary windings. The little metal tabs in the upper left are what connects to the mica sheet and need to be removed, then the new 100pf capacitor (blue thing) is soldered in to replace the removed mica cap. it is all epoxied back together and placed back into the metal can and finally placed back into the radio.
